“I spent a morning birding with Luis around Merida, in late June of 2019, and had a great time! He was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He asked in advance what my target birds were, and carefully planned an itinerary to optimize our time. He was very friendly, easy to spend time with, and his English was excellent. We got great looks at target species, and Luis provided eBird checklists afterwards. He was also happy to answer follow-up questions during subsequent days, while I was still in the area and doing a bit of birding on my own. Highly recommended!”

We birded together quite a few times after our initial meeting and he was always able to show me birds I was interested in and introduce me to new species. He would also confirm (or correct) my bird IDs. He is a walking encyclopedia of bird knowledge from habitat, to migratory and breeding behaviors, to knowing the best sites to see many of the birds Yucatan has to offer.
