Full Day of Birding near Mérida

A tour designed for those who want to go birding from dawn to dusk. Starting at Merida’s best birding hotspots where we'll be able to find birds like the Limpkin (Aramus guarauna), Snail Kite (Rosthramus sociabilis) and Yucatan Jays (Cyanocorax yucatanicus), continuing at one of Yucatan’s favourite birding places, where we will see a combination of pastures and tropical low forest, expected birds are the Black-throated Bobwhite (Colinus nigrogularis), Orange Oriole (Icterus auratus), Yucatan Flycatcher (Myiarchus yucatanensis), among many others. We will make a stop around 12:00 noon to have lunch and rest a little so we can head to our last stop, the north coast of the state, where we are going to be looking at lots of waterbirds including American Flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber) and searching for the endemic Mexican Sheartail (Doricha eliza), Yucatan Wren (Campylorhynchus yucatanicus) and the Yucatan Gnatcatcher (Polioptila albiventris).

Top Birds: American Flamingo, Plain Chachalaca, Black-throated Bobwhite, Lesser Roadrunner, Northern Jacana, Neotropic Cormorant, Reddish Egret, Yucatan Gnatcatcher, Vaux's Swift, Cinnamon Hummingbird, Turquoise-browed Motmot, Yucatan Woodpecker, Rufous-browed Peppershrike, Mangrove Vireo, Yucatan Jay, Orange Oriole, Rose-throated Becard, Spot-breasted Wren, Gray-crowned Yellowthroat, Mexican Sheartail, Yucatan Wren, Rufous-browed Peppershrike.

We will pick you up in one of our cars wherever you are staying in Merida at 6:00 am, take you to the birding places and after that return you to your accommodation site (around 06:00 pm). We drive SUVs for the comfort of our clients.

Food not included. Please, note that the weather in Mérida can get really hot and humid after midday, so we often recommend doing the Halfday Tour Near Merida.
