Half Day Of Birding Near Mérida

A tour designed for those staying in Merida who want to go birding for half a day. We will leave early from Mérida and do a short drive to visit some of the best birding hotspots in the area, where we might be able to get more than 50 bird species in a couple hours.

Top Birds: American Flamingo, Black-throated Bobwhite, Yucatan Gnatcatcher, Yucatan Wren, Mexican Sheartail, Orange Oriole, Reddish Egret, Turquoise-browed Motmot, Groove-billed Ani, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, Yucatan Woodpecker, White-fronted Parrot, Mangrove Vireo, Yucatan Jay, Gray-throated Chat, Olive-throated Parakeet, Yucatan Flycatcher, Cinnamon-bellied Saltator.

We will pick you up in one of our cars wherever you are staying in Merida at 6:00 am, take you to the birding place and after that return you to your accommodation site (around 12:00 noon). We drive SUVs for the comfort of our clients.

We will carry a spotting scope to get better views of birds at far distances. Insect repellent in case of mosquitoes.

Easy birding. Easy Walk.

We recommend bringing: Walking shoes or boots, hat, long sleeves, water.

Yucatan Jay (Cyanocorax yucatanicus)
