Flamingo Quest at Progreso, Yucatán

Progreso is a port 30 minutes from Merida, home to numerous bird species such as American Flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber), waterbirds and the endemic Yucatan Wren (Campylorhynchus yucatanicus), Mexican Sheartail (Doricha eliza) and Yucatan Gnatcatcher (Polioptila albiventris) among others. We will visit an abandoned road that has now become a great and safe site for birding, there we will make stops and easy walks to see the birds interact with a very rich habitat.

Top Birds: American Flamingo, Groove-billed Ani, Clapper Rail, Sandwich Tern, Magnificent Frigatebird, Reddish Egret, Yellow-crowned Night-Heron, Yucatan Flycatcher, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Common Tody Flycatcher, Tropical Kingbird, Couch's Kingbird, Rufous-browed Peppershrike, Mangrove Vireo, Mangrove Swallow, Yucatan Gnatcatcher, Yucatan Wren, Orange Oriole, Mangrove Warbler, Morelet's Seedeater.

We will pick you up in one of our cars wherever you are staying in Merida at 6:00 am, take you to the birding place and after that return you to your accommodation site (around 12:00 noon). Our cars will always be clean before picking clients up.

We will carry a spotting Scope to get better views of birds at far distances. Insect repellent in case of mosquitoes.

Easy birding. Easy Walk.

We recommend: Walking shoes or boots, hat, long sleeve, water.
